Home Story - Clean Uncluttered Contemporary

Clean and Uncluttered Contemporary in Bristol, Australia

This rennovated home was originally a Victorian, home of Nathan and Danica and their 2 children.  It was a smaller home so the homeowners requested large windows to take advantage of the views outside to make the home appear larger.

The outside street facing courtyard gives great privacy to the gardens in the front, which is enjoyed by using over sized windows on the project.

Bristol, Australia Rennovation

Lots of whites let the light flow thru from the hallway to the bedroom.
The glass door on the hallway is a great idea to allow maximum light flow.

Creative kid's rooms are free of everyday clutter and easy for older children to pick up.

More floor to ceiling windows to maximize on natural lighting.

White walls play a big role in reflecting light.

Home Envy: Estate of Samantha Boardman

Southampton Home of New York Socialite Samantha Boardman and Aby Rosen

Home of Samantha Boardman and Aby Rosen via Harpers Bazaar

The home is very tastefully decorated for a young family that loves to entertain.  The designer has used lots of soothing neutrals, and it really allows the art to be on display as the primary interest.

Above:  This room is a great mix of textures and colors.  The base of the room is the natural seagrass rug.  The red ottomans are dimensional art pieces that function as seating.
How fun are these furry chairs and ottomans?  With lots of precious art around sometimes the room can look too serious, so the addition of whimsical seating brings the formal feeling more in line with a family home.

Just a touch of color expertly applied make these rooms of neutrals more appealing.  When rooms have flowed into each other, Ms O'Hara has used a carry thru color, this is crucial to maintaining a compatible color scheme.
In the Dining Room below, the green chairs carry the subtle color from the Living Room, and make a bolder statement.  Love the border painting at ceiling level which reinforces the ceiling height.

The other carry thru color of turquoise is the accent in this family room.  Grey is a neutral and there are several colors that are great as accent colors.  This designer, Martha O'Hara has used two of the best ones;  lime green and turquoise, both of these are happy colors.

Lots of creative styling in this small powder room above.  This is one room most of your guests will use, so it is an important room to treat creatively, the mix of color and proper lighting give this small room lots of interest.  Perfect overhead lighting is not as important in a powder room, so it is a great space to use those fixtures with dimmer lighting.

Notice the ceiling work, there is an additional accent color of coral being used.
