Vintage Bathrooms - One Can Dream

Most people with Interior Ambitions dream about that vintage bathroom.  The use of tiles: creamy or white, bright or subltle, wallpapers or faux painted, gorgeous chandeliers, shining brass or stainless--these are the dreams of a vintage bathroom.  Although the reality of life and modern day comforts sometimes do not meet up with vintage; one can always dream.

The open shelving is a nice balance for the black and white tile floor and this homeowner has perfected accessories for this area, by the use of the color red.

On the market in New York City, Greenwich, for $949,000 is a lovely tri-evel townhouse.  The kitchen needs renovating, but the rest of the townhouse is in good condition.  This is a lot of room for under $1,000,000 in Greenwich.

This townhouse is the perfect backdrop for a traveled lifestyle.  You can see this homeowner took great advantage in displaying a gallery wall that allows him to revisit his travels simply by "wall watching".

Extraordinary Homes - Malibu

The Malibu Estate of Richard Shapiro

ex·traor·di·nar·y

adjective
adjective: extraordinary; adjective: extra-ordinary
1.
very unusual or remarkable.

synonyms:remarkable, exceptional, amazing, astonishing, astounding, sensational, stunning, incredible, unbelievable, phenomenal;
 It is so very extraordinary:

This beautiful Malibu home was purchased, renovated, and furnished as only Richard Shapiro could do it.  An expert in classical design details, both American and Continental, Shapiro's new home is now more like a lovely Italian palace, rather than a typical Malibu beach home.  Even with this view, the inside of the home commands your attention.

The interiors prove that if design is good, it is applicable anywhere.  The home is relaxed enough for the Pacific coastline, and elegant enough to be entertaining, both formally and informally.

Spectacular windows look out to the gardens from the informal sitting room.  In the guest room, the walls have a stone finish on them, that makes the home appear aged and loved.

Spectacular views from any window, inviting you outside.  It's a difficult dilemma, do I enjoy most the gardens and the sea, or do I stay inside and take in every little detail?
